The Penultimate
Tomorrow I will post my final bracket prediction. The world will be in awe when it becomes the most accurate bracket on the world wide web!
Well, at least I can dream, right?
Let's talk SEC...what a mess. Kentucky, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Alabama. Only two of the four can be legitimately considered. I don't see the committee finding any way to justify inviting more than three SEC teams to the party. I'm picking Ole Miss as the most likely to go dancing with Florida and Missouri. The Rebels should breeze through Vanderbilt today and get a crack at Florida tomorrow in the conference championship...slay the giant and they wont even need the at-large.
Southern Miss almost did slay the giant. After a 2-OT loss to Memphis today, the committee is going to want to give a bid to the Golden Eagles. If Southern Miss were to get a bid, Ole Miss would lose its spot before Middle Tennessee would.
Remember a month ago when the BYU Cougars were right in the middle of the bubble and had several opportunities to play themselves in to the tournament?... Yep. Me too.

Blue Raiders... In or Out?
Middle Tennessee...you get to go dancing. (In my bracket, at least.)
The Blue Raiders have a strong enough resume, in my book, to go to the tournament (28-5, 29 RPI and 46 BPI). That is, for now. Should other surprise teams steal a spot by winning their conference tournament, Middle Tennessee and Kentucky could fall below the line.
Bucknell, Akron and Denver are three other teams in the middle of the bubble. Each one boasts a resume to at least be considered at-large should they not win their tournaments. If you're an SEC basketball fan, you want Bucknell, Akron and Denver to win their conference tournaments. You need Memphis to win the C-USA tourney.
As for my team, whether or not BYU even gets a home NIT game is now in question. Woe is me.

Kentucky... Still In
Ole Miss and/or Alabama. You want to go go the dance? Win the SEC tourney and you can. Yes, I do know that requires beating Florida. Oh, and Kentucky...you might want to win the tourney too.
Southern Miss? Simple. Beat Memphis and win the C-USA.
UMass...take out Butler, VCU and St. Louis for the A-10 title.
And Iowa...y'all should have no problems winning your tourney against the likes of Indiana, Michigan, Michigan St, Wisconsin or Minnesota. Right?
Quit whining.
It's not like you're the BYU Cougars. You wont have to take out the No.1 team in the country in your tourney championship game. You got this.

Conference Tourney Time!
March Madness is here! Let the conference tournaments begin.
The only way the BYU Cougars get to go dancing this year is through winning a golden ticket at the WCC tournament that starts this week in Vegas. Isn't Gonzaga entered in that tournament? Yeah. Ahem!
I am going out on a limb and predicting conference tournament wins for Gardner-Webb, Robert Morris, Delaware, Detroit, and Montana (Weber State just might steal it, though).
The bubble is going to be stretched and twisted by the outcome of the conference tournaments. Middle Tennessee's resume is strong enough to put them in the dance even without winning their tournament. Belmont, Louisiana Tech, Akron, and Bucknell are all legitimate at-large contenders.
Virginia, Alabama, and Kentucky fans are saying their prayers that LaTech, Akron, and Bucknell win their conference tournaments so the committee doesn't get the chance to look at these superior mid-major resumes as potential at-large teams.

Down the Stretch
The only way the BYU Cougars get into the NCAA tournament this year is by winning the WCC tournament.
And that definitely could happen... That is, if Tonya Harding showed up with a club to take out Elias Harris and Kellly Olynk's knee caps. Keep them boots tied, Tonya!
Baylor, Virginia, and Villanova are teams that a lot of people like to make the tournament. I think they each have more work to do.
Ole Miss gets Alabama at home next week... should they lose that game, they're out. California is fragile too. The Bears need to take care of Utah, Colorado and Stanford at home to close out the season.
